Rabbi Yeruchem Eilfort was born in Los Angeles and attended Rabbinical Seminaries in New Jersey and Florida. He was ordained in 1987 at the Central Chabad Yeshiva in New York. Rabbi Eilfort and his family moved to Carlsbad in 1990, where he is currently the Director of Chabad at La Costa. Rabbi Eilfort has published hundreds of articles in newspapers and magazines and served as Editor in Chief of the Jewish newsmagazine “Impact”. He has also hosted a radio show and was a long time scholar on Askmoses.com, a chat room for people with questions about Judaism.

This year Rabbi Yossi Rodal, our son in law from Italy will be our Chazan, leading the prayers with his heartfelt singing and beautiful voice. He will be joined by Rabbi Pinny Cyprys from Australia.

Mrs. Nechama Eilfort was born in Boston MA and grew up in Brooklyn. Mrs. Eilfort was a popular Scholar on Askmoses.com. She has spoken on panels at SDSU, to groups such as Brandeis women and ORT and at High Schools in Southern California. Currently Mrs. Eilfort acts as the Alumni Coordinator at the Hebrew Academy of Huntington Beach, CA. Mrs. E. gives classes regularly at Chabad at La Costa.

Sheila Lebovitz has been in the food industry for close to 60 years. She was the owner/operator of Sheila's Cafe, one of the longest running Kosher restaurants in S Diego. Now she is catering for Chabad at La Costa. During the summers she caters the Barbecue Bounty & Steak Night. During the rest of the year, Sheila caters kosher meals for various hotels in the S Diego area.

Youth Directors

Our new young couple and Rabbi and Rebbetzin of Chabad of Encinitas - Rabbi Elia and Chaya Eilfort with their sons, Dovey and Follie - will be joining us for the High Holiday season. They will be supervising and organizing youth programs for the holidays. Rabbi Elia was raised right here in Carlsbad and his wife Chaya was raised in Miami Lakes FL. They are very excited to be taking on their new projects on the West Coast.
