Everyone is invited to join us for this beautiful weekly gathering! Kiddush Sponsorship If you have not sponsored a Kiddush for a while and/or if you have a birthday, anniversary, or perhaps a Yarzeit you wish to mark, please respond to this message. Kiddush sponsorship begins at $180. PLEASE BE SURE TO JOIN US AND PLEASE INVITE YOUR FRIENDS!
This Shabbat has a special name, Shabbat Selichot. It is called this because on Saturday night, at midnight, we begin saying the special Selichot Prayers, which are prayers of supplication meant to spiritually arouse us and move us to return to G-d with a full heart. The High Holiday season begins officially at midnight on Saturday (technically on Sunday) for the recitation of the beautifully haunting services, which takes about an hour. We begin at midnight because that is the earliest possible time these prayers may be recited, and we are demonstrating our eagerness to engage fully with the Almighty. Everyone is invited and encouraged to participate! High Holidays General Information, Aliyahs, & Appeal
Dear Friends, Are you ready for the High Holidays?! Have you prepared yourself for this most-awesome time of the year? Have you made a good-faith spiritual accounting identifying both your strengths and your weaknesses? Well, our team has been busily preparing for the Days of Awe and we are looking forward with confidence that we can make sure you have the most positive experience imaginable. Not only will you feel inspired and joyful during our services, you will feel motivated and empowered to make the New Year a great one! No membership is required to join us. No tickets are required to join us. The only things required to join us are a willing spirit and reservations (by calling 760-943-8891, or via email; [email protected]). Donations are gratefully accepted – please use the enclosed envelope. There will be a great Junior Congregation program offered so the children will enjoy the High Holiday experience. There will be the best Hebrew/English Holiday Prayer Books available. There will be an elegant and comfortable atmosphere as we bask in the radiance of our new building. Best of all, there will be beautiful Cantorial renditions by Rabbi Yossi, and profound sermons by Rabbi Eilfort meant to bring the lessons of the High Holiday to you, where you are. Due to the enormous generosity of an anonymous sponsor this year we are offering Holiday Dinners on each night of Rosh Hashanah, and a pre-fast meal on Erev Yom Kippur at no charge (though donations are greatly appreciated). This time of year is an extremely important time for our community. We get the chance of enjoying the company of several new friends and neighbors who venture in to try us out. But additionally it is a time when people increase their generosity and support of ‘G-d’s home in the neighborhood.’ As we all know it takes funding to keep the lights on, and that we have no outside sources of revenue. We are entirely reliant uponyou, our friends to keep the bills paid. In consideration of this perhaps you would like to have or sponsor an Aliyah on the High Holidays? It is considered a very great honor and merit for you and your family. In fact, we are taught that Tzedakah (Charity) has the strength to save even from death! If you are interested in participating in this, the greatest Mitzvah, please contact the Rabbi IMMEDIATELY at[email protected]. Even if you do not want the Aliyah yourself, by virtue of your sponsorship you accrue all of the great merit associated with it!Please participate early and often. Wishing you and your entire family Kesiva vi’Chasima Tovah - that you should be written in and sealed for a GREAT year! Rabbi Yeruchem Eilfort High Holiday Security & Reservations October 2nd – 12th

Memorial Plaques & Tree of Life Plaques Available Our beautiful Memorial Boards have been installed. We specifically designed our custom-built bookcases to ‘frame’ each of the boards. The first Memorial Board was dedicated by the Brunelle Family and the new Board was dedicated by the Alter Family. We are currently offering Memorial Plaques to those who wish to perpetually honor the memory of a loved one in a most dignified and permanent manner. Those who dedicate Memorial Plaques will also receive yearly reminders of the Yarzeit and the light on the Board will be illuminated each year on the Yarzeit. We also have a gorgeous Tree of Life dedicated by the Lieberman Family that will shortly be going up. The purpose of the plaques on the Tree of Life is to commemorate joyous occasions (like Bar/Bat Mitzvah, anniversaries, special birthdays, weddings etc.). The donation is only $360 per plaque for the Memorial Board or $180 for the Tree of Life. Those who wish to participate should send an email to[email protected], or call Rabbi Eilfort at 760-943-8891. Cell Phones & Chatting During Services Needless to say the sanctuary on Shabbat or holidays is a place that must be conducive to reflective prayers and serenity. To help keep it this way, please refrain from engaging in any conversations during services and please do not bring in your cell phone. Thank you for your cooperation. Shul Etiquette Those who join us regularly for Shabbat services will agree that we have something very special going. The family-friendly atmosphere is unique and most inviting. We welcome everyone as though he/she is a long time member of the family. At the same time it is important to remember that we are a synagogue. Our sanctuary is meant to be a place where it is conducive to finding inner peace and tranquility. That is why the Rabbis have many laws concerning the decorum of a shul. It is appropriate to dress modestly and to dress somewhat formally in shul. Men should wear button down shirts, slacks (no jeans or shorts), with jackets and even ties when possible. Of course the head is to be kept covered at all times. Women should wear skirts that go past the knees and blouses with high neck lines and sleeves that cover the elbows. Married women should wear hats and the like. Children must be supervised at all times by the parents except during Junior Congregation (11:30am). While we want the children to have a great time together it is also important that they do not become so wild and/or boisterous that they disturb those of us who are participating in the services. We must remember that we should walk to shul and never park in the parking lot if there already eight cars parked. Finally, and we fully realize this goes against Jewish DNA, it is appropriate to come to shul ON TIME. While we know everyone is vying to be counted as the 10th, we are equally sure Hashem will give extra credit to those who come ON TIME at 10am (not to be confused with 11:30). We look forward to seeing you here! Please Patronize Our Sponsors Your Chabad Real Estate Agent & Mortgage Broker Jonathan Rozansky is a licensed realtor and mortgage professional.
