MAZEL TOV! SPECIAL SHABBOS CELEBRATION!
This Shabbos we will be celebrating the 13th birthday of Kayla’s son Angel, who has grown up in our community! Please come and be part of the celebration during the Kiddush.
Kiddush Sponsor(s)
This week’s Kiddush is being sponsored by Channah Hale, in loving memory of her father David Glovsky (Dovid ben Yaacov), her aunt Doris Seigal Bornstein (Dvorah bas Avraham HaLevi), and Arnold Tubis in loving memory of his mother Rose Nemiroff Tubis (Rochel Leah bas Avraham).
Additionally, it is being sponsored by Kayla Perez in honor of Angel’s 13th birthday.
Sponsor a Kiddush – Sponsors Needed
We have resumed the weekly Kiddush and it is as beautiful as ever, Baruch Hashem! A huge thank you to our dedicated Kiddush Committee (including but not limited to): Naomi Alter, Sheila Lebovitz, Channah Hale, Kayla Perez, and the Rebbetzin.
Our weekly, communal lunch is a chance to enjoy our gorgeous Shabbos atmosphere, together with our wonderful community, in the beautiful surroundings of our breezeway and patios.
We thank our generous sponsors, without whom, none of this would be possible!
We always need additional sponsors. Due to dramatically rising prices on paper goods and food we are compelled to raise the donation for a basic Kiddush to $250 per week. We thank everyone for their understanding and support. We still feel that this is the best ‘deal’ in town. When you consider that you get a full lunch, with many choices freshly prepared, for about 50 people, you will realize that it comes to about $5 per person. And of course it is strictly Kosher.
If you have a birthday, anniversary, Yarzeit, or some other occasion you want to beautifully commemorate while benefitting the entire community please consider Kiddush sponsorship (half sponsorships also available). We also hope that everyone will be supportive and understand that multiple sponsors benefits the shul and doesn’t, in any way detract, from your occasion.
If you are interested please respond to this message or call the shul, 760-943-8891, and you will be put in touch with the appropriate party to make your occasion happen.
AMAZING Yom Kippur!
The verdict is in; our Yom Kippur services were truly inspiring, joyful, and meaningful! We want to thank all of the dedicated volunteers who helped so much.
After earning a positive year filled with blessings, it is now time to get ready for the joyous celebration that comes with the holiday Sukkot – “The Time of our Joy!” (See schedule below).
Sukkot & Shmini Atzeret / Simchat Torah @ Chabad
Sukkot and Shmini Atzeret / Simchat Torah are known as “The Time of our Joy!” Please join us for our full schedule of services and celebrations. We will be kicking off the festivities on Monday night as we have a community meal in our beautiful Sukkah at shul. Please follow this link to make your reservations: www.ChabadatLaCosta.com/HolidayMeals.
We will be having a Soup Bar, with several delicious soups for your pleasure. The Rebbetzin’s world famous Challah will also be served. It will be a perfect evening in our perfect Sukkah! There is very limited space so please reserve your place immediately!
Following services on Tuesday and Wednesday we will have our scrumptious Kiddush luncheon in the Sukkah, generously sponsored by the Alter Family (additional sponsors welcome!).
Indoor/Outdoor Services that Inspire
It is that most special time of year again. The joyousness of Sukkot, Shmini Atzeret, and Simchat Torah are here, and we are READY TO CELEBRATE – SAFELY!
Everyone, vaccinated or not, must wear a mask while indoors during services. Those who do not wish to wear a mask can sit in the breezeway where we will have chairs set up.
PLEASE DO NOT COME IF YOU ARE NOT FEELING WELL OR HAVE BEEN NEAR SOMEONE WHO IS NOT FEELING WELL.
Special Simchat Torah Banquet September 28th
For the last three+ decades the Perez Family has generously sponsored the Simchat Torah Banquet. This year they have graciously allowed Rabbi and Rebbetzin Eilfort to co-sponsor the Banquet in honor of their birthdays!
So… Everyone is invited for our beautiful Simchat Torah celebration where we will joyously celebrate the world’s greatest gift, the Torah! We will also wish long life to Mrs. Rachel Perez, lovingly remember Elias Perez, and celebrate the birthdays of Rabbi and Rebbetzin Eilfort.
Here’s the thing; all celebrations are better when our family and friends participate (that means YOU). Please let us know that you will be joining us by responding to this message so we can properly prepare.
Tzedakah - Donations
We did not charge for tickets to our services. Everyone was welcome regardless of ability to pay, and there were many who came who were not able to afford to give. There are many who ate who were not able to afford to pay for the meals. And, G-d willing, there will be many more meals in the coming days.
During Yom Kippur we put out our Pledge Cards. It is not too late to answer the call of our High Holiday Appeal and to respond as generously as possible. It is the best way, we are taught, to sweeten the coming year. We are continuing to try and raise money that will be used towards completing our basement. The money we raise also goes towards scholarships for Hebrew School students, our Challah and Chicken Soup program, and all of our ongoing expenses.

The World’s ‘MOST BEAUTIFUL’ Paroches (Curtain Covering the Ark)

Our Shul is blessed with the most beautiful Paroches in the whole world (Yes! We are biased.). Earlier this year we dedicated the Paroches dedicated by the Joseph, Brunelle, and Fink families in loving memory of Bill and Julie Brunelle. Well, just in time for the holidays, we have now added the traditional white Paroches dedicated by Channah Hale, in loving memory of her late husband Arthur Hale, and her parents Bluma Seigal and Dovid Glovsky. These Paroches are truly precious and must be seen to be fully appreciated.
New Calendars Have Arrived!
Our gorgeous new Jewish Art Calendars for 5782 have arrived! You will be receiving one at home (if you are on our snail/mail list. If not, or if you want an extra one, we will have a box out at shul. Please do not take any on Shabbos.
Although we work REALLY HARD at getting it right, sometimes, somehow dates get left off or put in the wrong place. We are very sorry! If there is a mistake please let the Rebbetzin know so she can update the files for next year. We can also help you put stickers on your calendar.
New, Hot-Off-The-Press, Incredible ‘The Windows’ Brochures
We have stunning, stained-glass windows in our sanctuary thanks to the gracious generosity of Channah Hale. Channah has put together a beautiful full-color brochure with pictures and explaining our unique windows. Right now these are available only at shul.
Membership
NOW is the time to join the family! Membership includes High Holiday seats and discounts on other programs and activities. However, the main reason to join is to demonstrate your commitment to the future of Judaism in our area and to our community.
If you have already filled out and returned your Membership form please accept this message as our sincere thank you!
We urge you to pick the level of Membership and the financial commitment you feel comfortable with, and to fill out the form that you will find by following this link: www.ChabadatLaCosta.com/membership. We thank all of our amazing donors!

New Membership Year – Time to Join Our Family
THANK YOU TO THOSE WHO HAVE ALREADY JOINED!
It's never too late to join the family... www.ChabadatLaCosta.com/membership .
Anyone who wants to join will be welcomed regardless of financial situation, and may be assured of absolute confidentiality in this matter.
Public Service Announcement – Let’s Work TOGETHER to Maintain OUR Shul
We have a beautiful shul. Everyone agrees. It is not easy to maintain everything, but we work hard to keep things clean and in good working order. We need your help.
Our sanctuary is graced with gorgeous, custom made, stained glass windows. These windows MUST be kept in pristine condition. Please respect the windows by only looking and never touching them. G-d forbid, they can easily be scratched if we are not careful. Also, please do not put ANY objects (cups, books, tissues etc.) on the window sills as it detracts from the windows.
Our custom-built furniture from Israel is as precious as it looks. People have put down cups (full and empty) on the partitions and the shelves. This is inappropriate. Children cannot sit on or climb on the furnishings – other than sitting in the pews as they were designed to be used. No exceptions.
Please put away your own Talis and prayer books, and replace the book racks when done using them. Please throw away your own garbage.
If we can all work together we will keep our shul beautiful!
THANK YOU for your understanding and cooperation.
Soup and Challah
We will still be offering Soup and Challah to those who request it. We will not be delivering it if no request was made. Often times we will need people to pick it up themselves from shul, depending on the volunteer drivers’ status. Our focus is now to have people join us at shul so we can enjoy Kiddush TOGETHER!
Our A Team is busy preparing Challahs for the community as this is being written (and THANK YOU to our amazing donors for making that happen!). However, we are facing a big challenge as we need angels to deliver the fruit of our ovens to our hungry constituents. If you are ready, willing, and able to assist please respond to this message or contact the Rebbetzin to volunteer ASAP. G-d bless you!
NO Soup and Challah this week. Those who live near Chabad at La Costa are welcome to let us know if you want some delicious Challah and/or Chicken Soup delivered to you. There will be Challah and Soup. If you can help with deliveries, reach out to Kayla or Nechama.
Please note that all food is prepared and delivered using recommended safeguards.
Sponsors Appreciated (And Needed)
These are extraordinary times many people are reaching out for help and, Baruch Hashem / thank G-d, we are HERE to help! ‘We’ means YOU and US, TOGETHER. It is an amazing partnership that we have!
A very special thank you goes out to our “Super Sponsor” Channah Hale who has continuously stepped forward helping us to maintain this service!
We are extremely grateful to those who have reached out to help fund us, enabling us to serve others. Thank you to our amazing volunteer drivers - you can volunteer to deliver Soup and Challah!
Note About Sponsorships
You may have noticed that we seek multiple sponsors for the Challah, Soup, and Torah classes. We do this because we need to find ways to cover our budgetary shortfall that has been caused by the coronavirus. The donations coming to the shul have been dramatically reduced. We greatly appreciate those of you who are still supporting us! G-d bless you! We greatly appreciate your understanding as we seek ways of propping up the income necessary to keep things afloat. Your ideas about additional income streams are likewise greatly appreciated!
