Kiddush Sponsor(s)
This week’s Kiddush is being sponsored by the Alter Family in memory of Doris Markus (Naomi’s mother). It is being cosponsored by the Perez Family in honor
Sponsor a Kiddush – Sponsors Needed
We have resumed the weekly Kiddush and it is as beautiful as ever, Baruch Hashem! A huge thank you to our dedicated Kiddush Committee (including but not limited to): Naomi Alter, Sheila Lebovitz, Channah Hale, Kayla Perez, and the Rebbetzin.
Our weekly, communal lunch is a chance to enjoy our gorgeous Shabbos atmosphere, together with our wonderful community, in the beautiful surroundings of our breezeway and patios.
We thank our generous sponsors, without whom, none of this would be possible!
We always need additional sponsors. If you have a birthday, anniversary, Yarzeit, or some other occasion you want to beautifully commemorate while benefiting the entire community please consider Kiddush sponsorship (half sponsorships also available). We also hope that everyone will be supportive and understand that multiple sponsors benefits the shul and doesn’t, in any way detract, from your occasion.
If you are interested please respond to this message or call the shul, 760-943-8891, and you will be put in touch with the appropriate party to make your occasion happen. Please see below for a list of the upcoming Kiddush Sponsors.

JLI Course - (Mondays) Outsmarting Antisemitism

Lesson Details
Lesson 1
The Eternal People
By taking another look at the statistics, studying our people’s remarkable perseverance, and exploring the concept of Providence, we can find eternal cause for confidence and optimism while we implement plans to secure ourselves and our communities.
Lesson 2
No Apologies
We look at some of the explanations for antisemitism that have been offered throughout the ages to emerge with an important principle: the problem with hating Jews lies not with the Jews but with the haters. Internalizing this hate is not a healthy response.
Lesson 3
The Promised Land
Today, hatred of Jews commonly manifests itself as antagonism toward the Jewish State. This class distinguishes all-out antisemitism from some more nuanced sub-strains. It also examines the state of Israel education and the very nature of Jewish nationhood.
Lesson 4
Change of Heart
Psychology, neuroscience, and recent history show us that neither friend nor foe should ever be taken for granted. With a bit of subtlety and conviction, and always with trust in G-d, we find that the dark days of the past are no cause for pessimism ahead.
The Foundation Project - Donations
We are raising funds that will be used towards completing our basement. This project will include a TEEN LOUNGE, CLASSROOMS, a PLAYGROUND, OFFICES, STORAGE SPACE, BATHROOMS, and more. Call Rabbi to inquire about available dedications. The money we raise also goes towards scholarships for Hebrew School students, our Challah and Chicken Soup program, and all of our ongoing expenses.
To donate securely online follow this link: www.ChabadatLaCosta.com/donate.

Soup and Challah
We are seeking additional volunteers to help deliver Soup and Challah. If you can help with this beautiful Mitzvah please respond to this message. Thank you and G-d bless!
We wanted to extend a very special thank you to Carrie Rossenfeld for her help every week!
We will still be offering Soup and Challah to those who request it. We will not be delivering it if no request was made. Often times we will need people to pick it up themselves from shul, depending on the volunteer drivers’ status. Our focus is now to have people join us at shul so we can enjoy Kiddush TOGETHER!
Our A Team is busy preparing Challahs for the community as this is being written (and THANK YOU to our amazing donors for making that happen!). However, we are facing a big challenge as we need angels to deliver the fruit of our ovens to our hungry constituents. If you are ready, willing, and able to assist please respond to this message or contact the Rebbetzin to volunteer ASAP. G-d bless you!
Soup and Challah this week. Those who live near Chabad at La Costa are welcome to let us know if you want some delicious Challah and/or Chicken Soup delivered to you. There will be Challah and Soup. If you can help with deliveries, reach out to Kayla or Nechama.
Please note that all food is prepared and delivered using recommended safeguards.
Sponsors Appreciated (And Needed)
These are extraordinary times many people are reaching out for help and, Baruch Hashem / thank G-d, we are HERE to help! ‘We’ means YOU and US, TOGETHER. It is an amazing partnership that we have!
A very special thank you goes out to our “Super Sponsor” Channah Hale who has continuously stepped forward helping us to maintain this service!
We also wish to thank Clive Walden for sponsoring the Soup and Challah!
We are extremely grateful to those who have reached out to help fund us, enabling us to serve others. Thank you to our amazing volunteer drivers - you can volunteer to deliver Soup and Challah!
Note About Sponsorships
You may have noticed that we seek multiple sponsors for the Challah, Soup, and Torah classes. We do this because we need to find ways to cover our budgetary shortfall that has been caused by the coronavirus. The donations coming to the shul have been dramatically reduced. We greatly appreciate those of you who are still supporting us! G-d bless you! We greatly appreciate your understanding as we seek ways of propping up the income necessary to keep things afloat. Your ideas about additional income streams are likewise greatly appreciated!
Public Service Announcement – Let’s Work TOGETHER to Maintain OUR Shul
We have a beautiful shul. Everyone agrees. It is not easy to maintain everything, but we work hard to keep things clean and in good working order. We need your help.
Our sanctuary is graced with gorgeous, custom made, stained glass windows. These windows MUST be kept in pristine condition. Please respect the windows by only looking and never touching them. G-d forbid, they can easily be scratched if we are not careful. Also, please do not put ANY objects (cups, books, tissues etc.) on the window sills as it detracts from the windows.
Our custom-built furniture from Israel is as precious as it looks. People have put down cups (full and empty) on the partitions and the shelves. This is inappropriate. Children cannot sit on or climb on the furnishings – other than sitting in the pews as they were designed to be used. No exceptions.
Please put away your own Talis and prayer books, and replace the book racks when done using them. Please throw away your own garbage.
If we can all work together we will keep our shul beautiful!
THANK YOU for your understanding and cooperation.
