Rabbi Eilfort's Membership Letter
Dear Friend and Supporter,
What an amazing year it has been! We bought our land. We made major improvements to our facility (like a completely made-over kitchen, new floors, new concrete patio, and new landscaping). We have added several new and very popular programs (like our monthly Friday Night Community Dinner and our Sunday Barbecues). Our Hebrew School doubled in size with the new Aleph Champ teaching system. Our Adult Education range of classes and participation has grown dramatically with the Jewish Learning Institute. We started daily morning services. Our Shabbat and Holiday services have been very well attended. Our Shabbat Kiddushes and Ethics Class following the Kiddush have become exceptional highlights of the week. We have a terrific website that is generating huge traffic. Our Women’s Group and Men’s Club are both popular.
Yes, we have much for which we must be thankful. Thankful yes, satisfied no. We’ve got a long way to go (or shall I say grow?). We yearn to pay off our mortgage so we can move forward with our new building. We are in the midst of creating a Legacy Circle to insure the future of our community (see article in Newsletter). We have a terrific lineup of Adult Education classes for the Fall. We plan on further dramatic growth in our Hebrew School. The fact is last year our membership grew by 25%! We are grateful for all of those who formalized their commitment to the shul, but we are not satisfied. We have a long way yet to go.
Membership in Chabad at La Costa means that you partner with us in bringing authentic Jewish values to our area. The money we raise via Membership covers much of our operating budget. Every penny contributed stays right here, working in our community, benefiting everyone. Literally thousands of lives were touched in a positive way through our activities this past year. But there is so much more to do.
That is why we need you to join us, as a Member, now. If you are already a Member, G‑d bless you. Perhaps you can upgrade and become a Supporting Member? While we have kept our Membership Fees the same (despite decreased revenue through general donations due to the economic downturn) we are asking all of our Members to make a Building Fund commitment this year (the mortgage won’t pay itself off). We are asking you, yes you, to make it official this year and become a member of the happiest congregation in the entire county (maybe world). If you have any questions about Membership (or need special arrangements made) please call me at 760-943-8891. We will make it work for you, no matter what.
G‑d Bless You!
Rabbi Yeruchem Eilfort
